make sure you don't cut it past the 18" minimum of the barrell, as well as make sure you comply with the 26" overall length! Getting it done by a smith is a good idea, But I see it as an item you could do yourself, if you were skilled enough to cut it strait, touch up the Blue, and remount the front site, smooth out the inside and outside of the Bore and make sure all that happens in a good way? You might find many smiths reluctant to do such a deal, but if you stay legal, they really have no real opposition!
